It is a myth that the grants are only given to the greatly talented students or to the students form the poorest families. Of course, all theses factors are taken into account, however they are not predetermine whether the person is going to receive a grant or a scholarship or not.

One more myth is that the educational grant and the educational loan are the same notions and they are just called in a different way. It is not true. There is a great difference between the grants and loans, because grants are considered to be a sum of money which one does not have to pay back after the graduation, and loan should be paid back, and the earlier the better, as the interest rates and the penalties within the loans are just great.

Therefore, dear students, do not be afraid to appeal for the grant, you are not loosing anything. Who knows, maybe you are that only one who is going to receive a grant not due to your achievements and financial situation, but only because of you are lucky and enterprising.

Speaking about the grants, one can say that it is a real help to the students in order to cover either some part of the tuition fees or the whole sum of money charged for the education. Grant is a sum of money given to you in order to use it for your education and it should not be paid back. However, the amount of such grants are very limited and they are given to the students at very strict conditions.

There are too many factors taken into account whether to give a grant or not when you appeals for one. If you want to get to know, whether you are able to receive a grant or not, you have to appeal to FAFSA which stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. There you are able to know whether there is a real possibility for you to receive a grant or not. After that, the U.S. Department of Education calculates the whole financial eligibility and decides which sum of money this or that student qualifies for. In the duration of several weeks you receive the answer which sum of money you are welcome to receive. If some other education-financing programs are  available for you, you are welcome to decide by yourself whether you are going to accept it or not.
